progress

we are finished re-wiring the basement...now we can install the drywall!




when we pulled up the old carpet (that was glued to the slab) the rubber backing stayed behind...so we needed to scrape it from the concrete:


we found this great product called Dri-Core, which are tongue and grooved sealed particle board panels with plastic raised bases. This flooring is great for a damp basement slab:



so we installed the sub-floor panels too:





then just this morning we had a minor catastrophe when the hot water tank started to leak (maybe has something to do with that big dent in its side?)
the water leaked under the wall and into the neighboring room, but never fear, the Dri-Core is there!

This is the wall of the "kitchenette"
we took some preliminary measurements and laid out the dimensions of the kitchenette on some scrap wood:
