we discovered that there was a door that entered directly into the living room, but it was covered up. we are going to re-open that door and close up the door that entered through the kitchen. we cannot decide on a layout...here are three options, please help us decide.
Plan A: Closet at Entry, but no Eat-in Kitchen
Plan B: Larger Eat in Kitchen, but no Closet at Entry
Plan C: Smaller Eat-in Kitchen and a Closet at the entry (would you sacrifice the Kitchen space in order to fit the closet?)
Thank you!
Hi Kristen & Scott,
ReplyDeleteforget my earlier comment about eat-in kitchen. I think looking at these 3 plans that a is hands down the most attractive: you have the "perfect triangle" kitchen, a coatcloset, and there's the distinction between diningarea and livingroom due to the columns. I love that one.

Hi Guys!
ReplyDeleteThought I would chime in since I just found my way back to your blog.
I have absolutely no experience but I like the larger eat in kitchen area and no coat closet. The kitchen is where people hang out and gather naturally. I think having a larger space and a table to sit at and chat is attractive. The coat closet is nice - but if you have a party you can always put the coats on your bed (:-)).
But what do I know?
Can't wait to see it all!
Marcie
defiantly option c.
ReplyDeletei think you must have a coat closet.
no question about it.
could you add a window in the kitchen next to the table? this way it will feel larger, and its always nice to have a window next to a table.
thats my vote.
Thank you all for your help! keep those comments coming!
ReplyDeleteSo we now have 1 vote for A, 1 vote for B, and 1 vote for C...LOL! we need some sort of tie-breaker...because scott and i like all three!
I guess I'm the tie breaker. I vote for plan C. Need a closet in the entry way more for the family than guests. Parents, kids need a place for boots, jackets, etc. I agree with Tali re: the kitchen window. The owners can always move the living room around to add a dining table at family gatherings. Rather have the living room and a fireplace all the time.
ReplyDeleteSo there it is hope it helps
Kristen & Scott,
ReplyDeleteI would prefer C. I think everyone needs more closets; no matter how many you provide - there probably aren't enough yet! Coming in, I think that you need to have a place to put 'stuff'; we all have it (coats, umbrellas, vacuum cleaners, GOLF CLUB BAGS). I also think that the eat-in kitchen is a plus - my guess is most people eat informally at a kitchen table and would appreciate a small table to have coffee/morning paper at, feed the kids breakfast, tranfser cookies to a cooling rack, play quarters on, etc. Would be nice to keep the 'dining table' out of the living room.
Thats my 2 cents.
Best, Nelson
Kristen & Scott,
ReplyDeleteIn my last comment - I meant to say - would be nice to keep the 'kitchen' table out of the living room, as it usually has junk on it (newspapers, plates that haven't been bused, kid's homework, etc. - and have the formal dining set in the larger room or none (some people don't have dining sets and have fooseball tables or air hockey tables).
