some "before" images
this is the porch that we are enclosing...there will be a set of french patio doors that exit to a wood deck that will be flush will grade. this is currently under construction--the rough framing is complete--we just need to add the sheathing, windows and doors...and if i ever get a new battery for my camera, i will post a construction photo! things arent always what they seem...
in order to fit our patio door height, we realized that we would need to "notch" out the concrete curb that runs the perimeter of the existing porch's sill. so while scott made a home depot run, i decided to try to remove the existing pressure treated sill that was inboard of the concrete curb- to prep the area for the concrete work. we were dreading the concrete work. so, i placed the pry bar between the PT sill and concrete curb but the PT sill did not budge...instead, the 20' long x 6" high x 6" deep concrete curb slid out of place by about 1". i was in shock! so, when scott returned we literally pushed the concrete "curb" out of the way---and we were ready to frame out the porch! nnnnnice!

Flip Day 1: 10 Dec 2006
"now that's a real shame when folks be throwin' away a perfectly good white boy like that"
so today was a good first day- we made 2 great (money saving) discoveries. #1: beneath the ugly 1970's acoustic ceiling tile we found a "perfectly good" plaster ceiling- so we tore out ALL of that tile. #2: something that we thought could be a beam...was only decorative- so we tore that out too!
we only spent about 2 hours in the house, but we were able to remove ceilings, trim, casings and make a big mess...
Looking forward to tomorrow!
